Based on some observation on this forum and some limited experience (7 days on vlcd), deviances from the 1 Ib/day average is mostly caused by dieters not following the protocol as instructed. I presume most of us have read KT's book, or at least Dr. Simeon's "Pounds and Inches". KT's book makes it very clear that you must follow it to a "T". This means 100grams of chicken breast, lean beef or sea bass or halibut (basically white fish). Not 120 grams, not venison, and not just any kind of vegetables (if that's what you're doing). Further, you shouldn't mix the veggies unless it's the toss salad described in KT's book. I would also be cautious about thinking you can eat as much salad as you like. Lettuce does have a caloric value, something like 5.2 to 5.7 cal/oz. A 10 oz. salad may be large by someone else's standards, but I could certainly eat more than that. However, I try to restrain myself.
I reckon that many who aren't experiencing desired weight loss rates are not being totally honest with their food intake. I personally found it sort of challenging not to add a little more to compensate for whatever fat or water that may be extracted during the cook, and have followed KT's instructions to weigh the meats BEFORE they're cooked, and not deviating one iota from the list of food. The discipline has thus far paid off for me so far with steady weight losses.
This morning, I finally broke the 170 Ib. mark. I haven't weighed less than 170 pounds for over 10 years, despite past dieting and exercise. I hope the trend continues, but I'm pretty sure it will if I stick to the prescribed regimen- nothing more, nothing less.
