Yesterday I polished off a blissful weekend of gorging myself with a pile of pizza and wings - and thus ended my loading stage.  Today is day one of VLCD -- holy crap, I'm hungry!  I really hope the hunger pangs go away soon!

I am a 6'1", 38 year old male who has been overweight for about 15 yrs now.  Yikes!  This morning I weighed in at 326 pounds.  I am going for the full 45 days for this first round and would like to see a full 45 lbs loss - although more would be better - I've got a lot to lose!  I'm aiming for 220 lbs - hopefully by the end of this coming summer.  I'll try to keep this updated as I go along - to keep myself committed.  If you don't hear from me here for a couple of days, please send me a stern note - keep my feet to the fire!

Thanks!

So, Day 1 - I found it really hard!  I was hungry - like painfully hungry most of the day especially in the afternoon and throughout the evening.  I also felt a bit light headed a couple of times.

However, day 2 AM - I weighed in at 321 - a full 5 lbs lighter.  Yep - that's what we're looking for!

Day 2 is somewhat better ... I'm still hungry but it feels less like pain and more just empty.  It is a rather disconcerting feeling!  I've also been a bit irritable too - so hopefully we get past this stage soon - for everyone here!

I'm now at day 7 of the VLCD.  I am down in weight to 310.5 - that 15.5 lbs lost in 7 days.  Very nice!

However, I am still hungry a lot of the time.  It is not the burning hunger that one would expect eating this little, but it is there almost all the time.  I don't really have much in the way of food cravings though - thank goodness for that!  It is the hunger that makes me irritable too.

Overall impressions:  I think that (for me) it is going to be really hard to keep this up over 45 days.  The hunger and irritation from feeling hungry all the time is eventually going to break me.  The one thing that keeps me going is the thought of being thinner.  So I try to keep that image in the front of my mind when I start getting irritated and feel like giving in.

Your results are so amazing so far!!!  Really, make sure that you're drinking LOTS of tea and water.  When you're hungry, take a drink, then eat.  Also, are you splitting up your meal items?  This will allow you to eat more frequently throughout the day.  Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Angry Hi everyone.  It is first day after the 2 load days for me.  I woke up super energetic and happy, and ended up by the end of my work day around 4 just dragging but big time, I mean I had absolutely no energy whatsoever and after dinner just feel tired and grumpy- Is this normal for my first day of vcld?  I hope this tiredness passes.  also I ate only what I was suppossed to today?  Let me know if anyone else has experienced this?Huh Undecided

Today is day 11 of VLCD.  I weighed in this morning at 304.5 - down from 326.  Now a loss of 21.5 lbs. That's pretty amazing!  Still fighting hunger pangs.  Last night my stomach was rumbling in bed.  I hate feeling hungry like this but I keep myself on track by reminding my self that this small amount of pain in exchange for great gain. My energy levels have been not too bad and the irritability is better - not gone, but better.

Today is day 14 of the VLCD.  I weighed in this morning at 301 - 25 lbs down in 14 days!  This past week my weight loss has settled into a very predicable pound a day.  Each morning since this past Monday (6 days) I've been down exactly 1 lb.  My hunger is less now but not completely gone - I do still have periods of apparent hunger especially in the evenings.  I've had few cravings though - thank goodness I don't have to deal with cravings and hunger!  I think though, that the hunger is getting better - maybe the next 4 weeks won't be as bad.

Strachy, have you try to change your dose? I did that in my 2nd round and it helped with hanger. I went from 188 to about 150.

I have not tried to adjust the dose - I don't want to screw up something that is working for me.  As it is now, I have only slight hunger and usually just in the evenings now.  I suspect this is simply due to the massive amounts of food that I used to eat.

Today is day 19 of the VLCD for me and I currently weigh 296.  I've lost 30 lbs so far!  The weight is now coming off in an even pound a day and has been moving at this rate for almost 2 weeks now.  I am not "working out" or doing any extra physical work - just my normal job and normal things around the boat.  The hunger is for the most part gone and so is the irritability.  I eat much the same thing every day.  Here is my usual:
10:30 - an apple
12:00 - mixed greens salad with a couple of cherry tomatoes and half an english cucumber doused with raspberry flavoured balsamic vinegar and a choppped up bbq'd breast of chicken.
3:30 - another apple
5:30 - supper of several sliced cherry tomatoes, the other half of the cucumber both covered in vinegar again, a melba toast and another bbq'd chicken breast or else a couple of quick fry veal steaks also done on the bbq.

Water, Tea and coffee through out the day - altogether about 4 liters.

Thats it - this total amount of food would likely have been about half a meal for me in the days before HGC.  Again, I suspect that is why I was so hungry for the first couple of weeks - just because of the sheer amount of food I used to eat.

Other observations - BM every 3 days or so - used to be 2x a day.  Decreased libido - won't say any more about that.

I would also cry like a tragedy had just happened at the minor joke! Seriously!
My husband would pet me and/or say "baby, baby, I'm sorry, don't cry please"!hahaha

I think it is funny!

You are doing incredible!! Keep it up!

Day 23 of the VLCD - today I weighed in at 292.5. - a loss of 33.5 lbs so far.  The weight loss has been a bit more sporadic for the last couple of days, but is still averaging a pound a day over 7 days.  I've been sick with a head cold so that might be affecting it too.

Again, the hunger is mostly gone although I do notice it a bit more on Sundays when I don't do an injection.  I have full energy during the day and the irritability is gone.  Right now I kind of feel like I could go on doing this forever...  Except I'm already planning my first 'real meal' when I'm done.  I won't list what I'm planning - especially with everyone here in a deprived state!
