Hi All -- did a search and nothing came up.......my mom is doing the program and her hands are terribly dry and cracked. The instructions say coconut oil is ok to use, yet she is fearful of having put forth all this effort and does not want to use it for fear of the oil reacting with the hCG instead of her fat reserves. She has used fresh aloe, yet that makes her nervous as well. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks! Tim

The coconut oil and the aloe vera gel ARE the 2 on this protocol to use-I believe it was a TSP of coconut oil per day is ok -They both work great too--Anything else to use-im not sure-cant think---but these two are the ones id suggest-no harm should be done----She can use petroleum jelly to------Id do cocnut oil first though---- Brenda

Hi Tim,
I have only been injecting for 6 days, but my skin (mostly my hands) has become quite dry also. My hands are dry, but not cracked. I use the 100% aloe Vera gel on my face and hands/arms. You should read the label and make sure there is no alcohol in it, as that will not help matters. I also found a coconut oil soap that I am trying called Kirk's Original Coco Castile. They have a website. I'm not sure if you can order it from them, but it's www.kirksnatural.com. I got mine at Wegman's grocery store for 99 cents! good luck! Is your mom doing good on the protocol? Later, Toni

Hi Tim, Yes, my skin is getting very dry right now and I was concerned about that since it is winter and cold and dry in Idaho. Are you somewhere cold? I use so much lotion in the winter! I bought a body brush to keep the dead skin off and it seems to be helping me right now. I also, do believe that Coconut Oil should be fine, but I would just use a little. What about faces, what are you all using for that? my face is dry! Good luck, Kelly

Hi All, I recently read a really interesting book called Coconut Cures by Bruce Fife. I went and bought some more organic extra virgin coconut oil from the health food store and began using it externally (I put this jar in my bathroom) as well as internally (there is already a jar in the kitchen). The book goes into great detail why coconut oil is like no other oil. The fatty acids in coconut oil actually desolves grease and cleanses the body--internally and externally. Used on skin and taken internally is reported to have great cumulative results. I admit that taking a teaspoon or more internally every day has made me feel good and helped me get over a cold at Thanksgiving time. But, when I started applying it externally, I was suprised at what I found. Firstly, the oil comes solid in a jar (Last summer, I let it get pretty warm in the house and it turned liquid, so it depends upon your climate). I took a little amount (a pea size) and rubbed it between my hands to warm it up and liquify it. When I began applying it to my skin, I was suprised that it wasn't oily at all, my skin drank it up and there was no shiny residue. I gave myself a mask with it this morning (I put alot on and was very shiny for a few minutes) before I washed it off in my shower and my face feels really clean and soft now. I'm now in love with it. Even when on the VLCD, I didn't take it internally until I got sick, but I still lost weight when I did. The same author has a book called Eat Fat and Look Thin (I'm going to order it right now!) and it's about losing weight with coconut oil. I learned alot from reading the book (some of it trivia ). Apparently mechanics use it to degrease their hands; HIV patients use it to keep their cell count right; it's fatty acids desolve the coating around viruses and bacteria-- allowing our killer T cells to attack and kill them; islanders call it the Tree of Life; you can have chewing gum in your mouth, take a spoonfull of coconut oil, keep chewing and the gum will disolve; it's a cure for acne; the list goes on and on.... Bottom line is---Use coconut oil if you get dry skin or just use coconut oil !!! Kathy

I also have---- got tired of chicken and did a egg plus 3 whites for a omelet and cooked it in the oil--Very tasty !! ALL of what you said too!!! Havent read the book but--if you google coconut oil there is a ton of info--- Happy Thursday----I have a major headache today-missing my gramma terribly! Have a great day all---- Brenda You can buy coconut oil at walmart for 10$-its huge-in the vitamin section- or in the "oil" section for 3$ --

Thistime, a pea sized bit of coconut oil couldn't make you gain anything but crack-free hands!!! kathy

Thanks Brenda, Toni, Kathy and Kelly fun fact -- the point at which coconut oil goes from solid to liquid is 76 degrees F. Also, any time an oil is purchased to be used in/on the body, be aware that toxins usually attach themselves to fats and you want a clean source (ie organic). And also aware that organic does not mean good quality either. There are 5 of us doing the program. All are having good success weight loss wise. Dry skin, poofy hair, and lack of bowel movements are the main issues at this point. We live in Colorado, so the air is dry and cold, yet I still never used lotion on the skin, and don't seemed to be plagued like the others. Great job on the skin brush....helps the metabolism reset itself easier. didn't think to try it on the hands. None of us are putting anything on our face. However, before the program I occasionally used coconut oil in the shower and didn't feel weird having it on my face. Have a good evening all. Tim

psyllium husk is a great source of fiber/laxative i use to use.I dont see why we cant use it on this protocol-You have to remember --Dr S did this 30 yrs agao and some things just werent available back then.I actually used the MIRACLE NOODLES this time for my fiber and they really helped on this protocol-Read back in some earlier posts on that or go to miraclenoodle.com Skin brushes are great--So is the buff puff for the face-Thats what really seemed to dry out for me. Have a good one!! Brenda

skin brushes also increase circulation and help the lymphatic system drain as well I agree with Kathy - a little coconut oil on dry, cracked, bleeding hands won't hurt the weight loss. And tell your Mom to wear rubber gloves when she's washing the dishes! Or better yet - wash them for her!
