I know that our agenda says ..."One type of vegaetable only to be chosen from the following: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red raidshes, cucumbers, aspargagus, cabbage." But, are we allowed to use broccoli, corn, peas and/or string beans? Also, are we allowed to mix vegatables? Thank you and I hope everyone is doing well with their diet and shots...I am waiting for a few more natural products to come in the mail before I can start.....

I would stay away from the corn and peas, except raw suger snap peas. I have had good success with eating them. Lots of fiber....I try to keep my vegtables to 2 or 3 mixed in a meal
I have gotten into making alot of soups. Using Low sodium fat free beef and chichen broth. With the cold weather moving in, It's more satisfying... I use a few of the ingredients celery, Leeks, small amount of mushrooms, And instead of noodles, I get broccoli Slaw in a bag and put in in my soups. and sometimes top a chichen soup with a few diced tomatos. I will post my leek and beef soup recipe when I get it written up
Plus having soup you are getting some of your much needed water..

Hi Italianwave,
If you are just cooking for yourself, This is a simple recipe to throw together...
Chichen soup
1 14 oz. can Swanson Natural Goodness Chichen broth (Lower sodium, No MSG) 100 grams raw Chichen diced 1/4 cup chopped celery 1/4 or more of broccoli Slaw
add garlic to taste add salt to taste add pinch of Fines Herbs
add pinch of cinnamon for a sweeter flavor OR a tbsp or more of lemon juice for a little zing....
Bring broth to a boil. Add Spices. Add chichen, and let cook for a few minutes. Add veggies, and let cook until veggies are tender.(not mushy)
Can add 2 tbsp freshly diced tomatos to the top of soup.. Enjoy
You can eat the whole thing.

Hey,
I've been wondering the same thing too.
do you think mushrooms and broccoli are ok?
also can we use fat free ranch dressing? there's no fat but there is sugar (3g per serving).
thanks

Hi---I never did mushrooms on the protocal and some have done broccoli and had success-i think you need to TRY it and IF your scale does not move or moves in the wrong direction-dont do it again. As for the ranch--Id say dont---but you really should just try it and its gonna show on the scale one way or the other--Your scale is your master answerer to all your questions-it doesnt lie on this protocal-Its kinda amazing. The ONLY sugar should be STEVIA--There are many good recipes to make your own dressings--Just using liquid amino s is great on salad---Theres alot of good recipes with like dijon mustard-balsamic vinegars---Lots of alternatives-Ill do alittle research and see if i can find something to sub Ranch with-I will let you know. Dear B, Thanks so much for your quick reply. You're right...i don't want to sacrifice the diet and be setback a couple of days just for ranch. I guess i'll just eat my salad plain tonight and go buy some vinegarette that you suggested as soon as i can. thanks again! P.S. How long have you been off the protocol and have you kept it off?

Kisses, I make my own salad dressing since I wasn't able to find any without oil. I mix spicy brown mustard (pay attention to the kind you buy and make sure it doesn't have oil or sugar), apple cider vinegar, a bit of water, and a couple small scoops of stevia. I don't measure the ingredients -- I just tweak them until I'm satisfied with the taste and consistency. It tastes great! Tonight I had to go out to dinner so I ordered a plain salad and then literally dumped my baggie of celery, tomatoes, steak, and dressing. Of course the waitress looked at me a bit funny but I was happy I could eat out with a friend and still stick to the plan!

In the Simeons program, he specifically mentions that mushrooms and peppers are a no-no and resulted in a stall or a gain with his patients. I wouldn't do the mushrooms if I were you as they are a fungi and could contribute to yeast growth and carb cravings. I can't figure out why peppers are forbidden though.
On the other hand, I have used broccoli, cauliflower, baby bok choy, kale and brussels sprouts, all not on the list, but with success!!! Like Brenda says the scale will tell you...

Hi--I just finished the program -last Thursday was my last shot and then the following 3 days of vlcd.Monday started my 3 week maintainance--But am trying the cabbage diet---I lost 15 lbs total and yeah--am keeping it off so far----These 3 weeks you are to still do NO WHITE FLOUR PRODUCTS & NO SUGAR---Those two are the real killers here!!!They are your worst nightmare and will absolutely destroy your scale/results. But its kinda cool because the scale will let you know if you sneak either one!!And remember if you just have to cheat--make it a small cheat and continue with the program-get back on track--we know what the culprits are.Good luck--- Brenda

Thanks everyone for their replies. wow i didn't know mushrooms were explicitly listed. that might have caused my gain this morning. Amazing that 2 little mushrooms can do that. Also haha and to B for her story at the restaurant. i understand how that is. Waitresses always look at me funny when i'm like "make sure this is low fat...and that has no oil...and take the skin off that" even when i wasn't on the diet. all my friends have to order before me because i take a year. props to you sticking to it even though you were eating out. Does anyone have any cravings? it's been only 5 days for me on the vlcd and starting today i've been having cravings for sushi, chocolate, even carrots and soy milk. just stuff i used to be able to eat before this. but i'm not going to cheat. any tips on dealing with the cravings? Also...does anyone know if we can have red bulls (sugar free of course). there is aspartame in it tho...

Kisses,
KT does not recommend anything with artificial sweetners such as aspartame, however, I still drink diet coke. But I've recently found an alternative - Zevia is cola flavored with stevia which is natural. I just ordered some through my health food store and when it arrives I will say goodbye to Diet Coke!
I'm not really having cravings but of course I think about food I used to have and wish I could have just a bite! Some say cravings indicate you might have yeast overgrowth in your system and would need to do a candida cleanse to get rid of it. I've done some of the other cleanses but haven't needed that one yet.
Thanks for the support regarding the restaurant. I considered it a little triumphant moment because now I know I can eat out occasionally and still stick to the program.
